After playing the god of thunder in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Agent H in Men in Black: International and Billy Lee from Bad Times at the El Royale, Chris Hemsworth is up for a new challenge, playing the retired American professional Wrestler, Hulk Hogan.
Netflix will produce the biopic of Hulk Hogan and his rise in the wrestling world during the 80’s and Hulkamania in WWF during Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Era.
In his interview with Total Film, Chris Hemsworth expressed his excitement on the upcoming film and diving into the world of wrestling. The film also demands a more intense physical training and work out to pack up more pounds for the role. As he shared with Total Film, “As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical. I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor.”
Aside from his intense physical training, Hemsworth will have to recreate Hogan’s accent and attitude which he believes is fun and is looking forward to undertaking. The untitled biopic is said to be directed by Joker’s Todd Philipps and screenplay will be written by Scott Silver and John Pollono while Hogan himself will be one of the producers of the film.
It is exciting to see Hogan’s stints in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), American Wrestling Association (AWA) and of course his headlines in the WrestleMania events with Roddy Piper, Andre the Giant, Randy Savage and Sgt. Slaughter, and how Chris Hemsworth will portray the 2005 WWE hall of Famer. There has been no official announcement regarding the premier date of the film, nevertheless wrestling fans sure are thrilled!
