For a monthly subscription rate of $4.49 in Australia and $3.49 in Canada, Twitter Blue gives users access to exclusive features such as undo tweets, bookmark folders, and reader mode. Subscribers to Twitter Blue can also customize color themes and app icons for their phones.
The main function that made waves is undo tweets, which works similarly to Gmail’s “undo send” feature – it lets users set a timer of up to 30 seconds after tweeting before it appears publicly on the feed, giving them extra time to “undo” their tweet and make any corrections before anyone sees their tweet. Other features include bookmark folders, which allow users to easily organize saved tweets, and reader mode, which turns long tweet threads into easy-to-read text.
With over 200 million active users per day, Twitter can usher in a new age of subscription social media platforms if this new model proves successful.
