With the hype surrounding the McDonald’s BTS Meal at an all-time high, Malaysian BTS fans wanted to show their appreciation to their country’s frontliners in honor of their favorite K-pop group.
The BTS Meal recently made waves as a coveted fast food item from McDonald’s. In collaboration with BTS, McDonald’s released this themed meal set composed of the K-pop group’s favorite food from the fast food giant. The meal set was released in Malaysia last May 26 and fan hype is at fever pitch as people do whatever they can to get ahold of the item, with some people even selling the packaging on shopping websites like Shopee and Carousell.
In the middle of this chaos, BTS fans or ARMYs (Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth) in Malaysia distributed 274 sets and counting of the BTS-themed McDonald’s meals to various hospitals in the country and to the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang which houses the COVID-19 Integrated Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC) 2.0.
ARMYs are known to organize and support BTS in events and special projects that feature the band, which was why they came together to purchase McDonald’s BTS Meals while doing some good for their communities. Even with the excitement during the themed-meal’s release, it didn’t deter fans from waiting in long queues to avail the said meal for frontliners.
Twitter user PurpleProject7, one of the organizers of the initiative, shared a short message to frontliners which you can read below.
Aside from the meals themselves, Malaysian ARMYs also donated stationery to help supply frontliners with materials for their day-to-day needs.
Malaysian ARMYs are now currently in the middle of their 8 Gifts from ARMY project, where they donate to eight different organizations and causes in honor of BTS’s 8th anniversary.
