More than three years after the release of The Crimes of Grindelwald in 2018, the Fantastic Beasts film series is officially set to return with Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, which is arriving earlier than expected this April 15, 2022.
The franchise’s third installment was initially scheduled to release on July 15 of next year, but Warner Bros. Pictures moved it up by three months to an early summer premiere in a surprise move.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore sees Professor Albus Dumbledore entrusting Magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission against the powerful dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald and his legion of followers.
David Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter films and the first two installments in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, is set to once again take the helm of the latest entry to the wizarding world created by J.K. Rowling. The film is written by Rowling and and Kloves, with returning cast members Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, and Jessica Williams. Mads Mikkelsen joins the franchise as Grindelwald, replacing Johnny Depp from the first two films.
