Superheroes, assemble! Ultraman series co-writer Mat Groom officially announced during Anime Expo 2022 the first ultimate crossover with powerhouse Marvel Comics in an action-packed comic book miniseries featuring our favorite Marvel superheroes Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel in the Ultraman universe.
Mat also brought the excitement to Twitter with a teaser image showing the epic team-up of Earth’s mightiest heroes with Ultraman and Ultraseven as they battle against the fire-breathing Kaiju. Mat says: “That’s right, we’re bringing you the team-up you never knew you needed— Carol Danvers and Ultraman Taro!”.
Though Tsuburaya Production and Marvel Comics have previously collaborated for titles The Rise of Ultraman, The Trials of Ultraman, and the Mystery of Ultraseven, the upcoming comic miniseries will be the first superhero crossover between the Ultraman and Marvel universe.
Ultraman, created by Eiji Tsuburaya in 1966, is one of Japan’s most popular comic book superheroes and a beloved pop culture icon. Aside from thousands of television episodes and movies (of both the anime and live-action version), the franchise continues to branch out with its expansion plans for a Shin Japan Heroes Universe.
As more exciting details about the Marvel crossover have yet to be unveiled such as the miniseries title and storyline, fans can enjoy streaming Ultraman episodes on Netflix and the Ultraman Official YouTube channel. You can also catch other updates and share your excitement in the Ultraman Connection community.
