Seasons come and go, but film stays forever. The year 2022 has given us so many great movies to carry us through the good times and hard times. Now that we have entered a new year on a fresh slate, we can’t contain our excitement for the abundance of new movies about to be released this year, so here are the High Five Movies we can’t wait to watch in 2023!

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania

What better way to start a year’s lineup of movies than with a Marvel film, right? In the latest trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the third Ant-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, becoming stuck in the quantum domain becomes a family affair.

The trailer depicts what occurs when Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), daughter of Ant-Man/Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), uses a device to transmit a signal into the quantum world. They are all sucked in along with Lang, Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), who created the Ant-Man suit, before former government agent Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) can stop it.

It turns out, there’s a whole secret universe there, and perhaps Janet hasn’t fully disclosed to the group everything about her experiences in the realm. We also get a glimpse of Kang the Conqueror, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next supervillain.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania shows in theaters February 17, 2023.

John Wick: Chapter 4

Need we say more on Keanu Reeves? The Chapter 4 of the franchise’s plot is as follows: John Wick (Reeves) uncovers a path to defeating The High Table. But before he can earn his freedom, Wick must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into foes.

We see gun battles between vehicles and between horses, attacks with axes and clubs to various parts of the body, a swordfight, and other extreme violence as our soft-spoken but ruthless anti-hero chases his prey in foreign locations. In other words, it’s a John Wick movie.

Buckle up, as the Lionsgate sequel will hit the theaters on March 24, 2023.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Is Gamora back? What will happen to Raccoon? Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 looks to have one thing pat down. The third and final film from James Gunn in a trilogy about Marvel’s most adorable collection of would-be warriors is the last time we’ll see them all together on screen. After this film, Gunn will be finished telling the Guardians’ tale, and he has made it clear that some of the primary characters won’t survive to see the end of it either.

There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the next volume, but one thing is for sure: “We are Groot.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits the theaters May 5, 2023.

The Little Mermaid

The live-action film of the beloved Disney classic The Little Mermaid will definitely be one of the best movies coming out in 2023. It is definitely a cultural reset for Disney to cast a person of color to play the beloved Disney Princess, Ariel.

The Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale of the same name served as the inspiration for the new Little Mermaid. Ariel, a mermaid princess, makes a pact with a sea witch to turn human in order to be with the human prince she has fallen in love with. The film is a remake of the animated Disney classic.

The Little Mermaid is set to be released in theaters on May 26, 2023.

Dune: Part Two

The award-winning epic science fiction film, described as “the best sci-fi movie of the decade” is about to release its sequel this year. The second half of Herbert’s Dune, which follows Paul’s ascent to prominence among the Fremen and his eventual rebellion against Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV, will be favored by Villeneuve’s plot in Part Two, and viewers should anticipate this. Paul’s quest to become the famous “Kwisatz Haderach” will test his character and endanger his life. In the meantime, the Atreides family grows: Lady Jessica gives birth to a daughter, Alia, with exceptional Bene Gesserit talents, and Paul and Chani fall in love, as his precognitive visions foresaw.

Oh, and did we mention Florence Pugh and Austin Butler joining the sequel? Well, there you have it.

Dune 2 is scheduled to release in movie theaters on October 20, 2023.
