Philippine-based broadcasting media network Global Media Arts (GMA) reveals a “Daimos” adaptation plan, following the much-awaited release of its “Voltes V” adaptation, “Voltes V: Legacy.”
In an interview with Paolo Contis for his online show #JustIn, which was posted on the Sparkle GMA Artist Center YouTube Channel, GMA Network Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes said that “Daimos” adaptation is in the cards.
“We’re planning on Daimos’ sana (hopefully),” Gozon-Valdez told Contis when he asked her about the network’s big projects coming up.
“Daimos” was also made by Toei Animation and was first shown on Philippine TV in 1978, dubbed in English on GMA. A Filipino-dubbed Daimos series was also released in 1999 by GMA.
The story revolves around the people of the planet Baam, who try to move to Earth after their home is destroyed. When their leader is killed, war breaks out, and the only thing keeping the Baam forces from attacking Earth is the super robot Daimos. Aside from this, it narrates the story of Richard and how he meets Erika, who is the daughter of the late leader of the Baam, and how they later fall in love with each other.
