“Dune” is back to continue the tale of the Muad’Dib, the prophet of the Fremen against old and new nemeses in its upcoming sequel, “Dune: Part Two”.
Director Denis Villeneuve confirms at this year’s CinemaCon that the sequel picks up right where the first Dune finished but is set to be an “action-packed epic war movie”. With him at the Warner Bros. Discovery panel were lead stars Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet.
A first look of the long-awaited sequel was finally released exclusively to the attendees of CinemaCon 2023. The footage shows Paul (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya) sitting side by side on the dunes with Paul teaches Chani the concept of swimming. Cut to our first look at Irulan played by Florence Pugh who wants to end the House of Atredies and finally, a scene where Paul is riding a sandworm, fulfilling his prophecy as Muad’Dib, the prophet of the Fremen Tribe.
“We really see Paul Atreides become a leader here,” Chalamet said. While Zendaya, makes it clear that there’s going to be more of her as Chani in Dune: Part Two.
“I only got such a small time to get to know who she was and now I really feel like she’s a part of myself. These are still just two young people trying to grow up and fall in love and live.” she said.
Other actors expected to return are Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck and Javier Bardem as Stilgar. Joining the cast is of course, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen and Christopher Walker playing Emperor Shaddam IV.
Dune: Part Two will be released globally, only in theaters, on November 3, 2023.
