“Crazy Rich Asians” is reportedly eyeing to set its much-awaited sequel in the Pearl of the South, the Philippines!
Kevin Kwan, the acclaimed author of the novel, has always been vocal about his fascination in the Philippines. During the World Travel & Tourism Council Global Summit held in the country, he expressed his desire to create a film set in the Philippines.
“It’s a country with so many amazing locations, cultures, flavors, and of course, people. This is my fourth trip [here] and it’s always a pleasure to be back. It’s always surprising—I never know what will happen, but it’s always a grand adventure,” Kwan shared with The Star.
Film producer Lawrence Bender also added, “[Kevin] wrote a script, and it’s like a love letter to the Philippines.”
According to reports, the spin-off “China Rich Girlfriend” will showcase a totally different blend of drama, one that revolves around Astrid (Gemma Chan) and Charlie Wu’s (Harry Shum Jr.) unresolved business.
