On its 10th anniversary celebration, Telegram releases their own version of “Stories” where users may capture a photo of their day and post it on the app for their contacts to view.

Telegram initially released Stories as an exclusive feature for premium users last July. Due to popular demand, they finally released an update that users request for the most – Telegram stories was officially released on August on their app for all users to try out.

The story function for social media applications was first introduced in 2013 by Snapchat, wherein a series of snaps will be presented in a chronological order depending on the time of a user’s posting telling viewers about your day. Stories are available for a limited amount of time – usually only 24 hours. From this, Instagram and Facebook messenger also released their rendition of stories.

It is then challenge for Telegram to level-up their game upon the release of their own stories. Innovations were showcased as soon as its release. Telegram’s stories features a trendy dual camera mode where both front and back cameras can be activated at the same time. It also allows users to edit the time their stories are up for viewers – they can choose to have it displayed for 6, 12, 24 or 48 hours, a new feature only available on Telegram. For anonymity, Premium users may also opt to go stealth mode where they can erase their views from any stories they opened in the last 5 minutes – this extends for the next 25 minutes where they are invisible from posters. Users may view stories via a pull down tab conveniently placed on top of their chats. They can also come back to their archive or history on their profile.
