In celebration of Hau Giang’s 20th anniversary, the first-ever International Rice Festival of Vietnam will be held in the province!

After a meeting between the Hau Giang Provincial People’s Committee and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the festivities will happen from December 12 to 15 as per suggestion.

Some activities to be featured in the festival are seminars, contests, and more than 700 booths showcasing products from the ‘One Commune One Product (OCOP) Programme’ and local delicacies that highlight rice.

In line with that, this year’s theme is ‘One Hundred-Year Journey of Vietnamese Rice’. All the activities will reflect this since the event will be an amalgamation of appreciation of the Vietnamese rice industry’s past, present, and future.

In a way, the festival has a ‘two birds, one stone’ kind of feel to it. Because, aside from the celebration of the province’s establishment, it’s also doubling as a promotional and support campaign.

The festival will highlight and promote the high quality of rice production and its value in organic rice production, specifically in the Mekong Delta region. Through the event, tourists are also encouraged to have a newfound appreciation and interest in Vietnamese rice production and industry.

It’s also supporting small business owners and farmers for effective operation and increasing Vietnam’s status in the international competitive market. The country is currently the third largest rice producer after Thailand.

What an encouraging event for the people of Vietnam!
