Music and animation production company Aniplex recently announced a second Demon Slayer game coming to Nintendo Switch this 2024!

The game is entitled Kimetsu no Yaiba Mezase! Saikyō Taishi! or Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Sweep the Board! and is planned to be a party video game. The franchise’s previous game, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles, was an action-packed multiplayer arena game with a higher barrier for entry, while this new game in contrast is perfect for casual gamers and fans of the property to play with family and friends.

Here’s SEA Wave’s High Five guide to what we know so far about Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Sweep the Board!

Fun and Casual Gameplay

Similar to the popular game Mario Party, Aim for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba! The Strongest Soldier! will have fun multiplayer mechanics to ensure maximum fun for everyone involved. It will be a turn-based game where players roll the dice and aim for certain spaces on the map, which will feature activities, challenges and rewards for players who land on them. Imagine a game of Monopoly mixed with arcade games – the perfect format for chaotic fun and bragging rights.

The game is set to feature twelve characters from the franchise, from our beloved protagonist Tanjiro, to his companions Zeinitsu and Inosuke, all the way to the skillful Hashiras and the support character, Nezuko. Players can choose to play as their favorites and face challenges as iconic characters from the anime and manga.

Immersive Locations

The main map of the game features locations as seen in the Demon Slayer anime and manga. The map is uniquely designed to have stepping spaces for the players to land on and is combined from multiple iconic locations in the series. But don’t spend too much time sightseeing, since going around the map and reaching the end first is the main goal of the game.

Challenging Mini-Games

Landing on specific spaces in the game’s map will trigger various mini-games, which grant points to the winners based on their performance. These points can be used or converted into usable items in the main battles, which feature fights between the titular Demon Slayers and demons.

Japanese and English Release

The game will be released in Japan in 2024, with the international version to be released in the same year. While no release date has been announced as of yet, we can only speculate based on the timings of the first Demon Slayer Nintendo Switch game, which had its US and Europe version released about 6 months after the Japanese launch.

The game release is still months away, but while waiting, let’s get hyped up and watch the trailer here:
