Move over Kiki’s Delivery Service and say hello to Maginhawa’s embroidery service! Filipino-Japanese-inspired coffee shop Street Kohi is bringing a Studio Ghibli-themed activity to fans of timeless anime films such as Howl’s Moving Castle, Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro. So if you’re looking to take up a new hobby, or maybe wear your very own handmade Ghibli merch, then this Studio Ghibli-themed embroidery workshop is for you!
Led by embroiderer Maine Magno, the workshop will feature a short introduction to the craft, a basic tutorial and demonstration on embroidery using back stitch, and a practical application of your newfound skills by stitching a Studio Ghibli-inspired design on your chosen fabric. Participants are encouraged to bring their own pieces of clothing—whether shirts, canvas bags, or even handkerchiefs—so that they can keep them as keepsakes with their embroidered design. An embroidery tool kit will also be provided to participants, as well as a certificate after completing the session.Â
