The Taiwanese boy group F4 has reunited after 12 years!

In 2001, singers and actors Jerry Yan (Dao Ming Si), Vic Zhou (Hua Ze Lei), Vanness Wu (Mei Zuo), and Ken Chu (Xi Men) starred in the Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden as four rich students who ruled their university with an iron fist. But when a new student Shan Cai enters the picture, the boys are challenged in a way that changes their perspectives in life.

Riding the success of their series, F4 was formed as a real life counterpart to their fictional group, with the boy band releasing several albums and headlining concerts around the world. The group disbanded in 2009 and reunited in 2013 on the Jiangsu TV’s Spring Festival special. Another reunion was staged in 2020, but with members joining via virtual projections due to the pandemic.

After 12 years, the boy group finally reunited during the concert of Taiwanese band, Mayday, where they performed their classic song, “Meteor Rain” and Mayday’s “The Song of Laughter and Forgetting” to thousands of fans.

The reunion is bittersweet, as fellow Meteor Garden cast member Barbie Hsu, who portrayed Shan Cai, recently passed away in February 2025 due to influenza-related pneumonia. Known as the feisty enemy-turned-love-interest of Jerry Yan’s Dao Ming Si, Shan Cai was the point-of-view character that introduced everyone to the world of the F4, and was widely missed by all members of the group who paid tribute to her in their own ways.

Despite the melancholic year for the group, the surprise reunion was a success, and may lead to more performances down the line for the F4. According to Taiwan’s Mirror Media, the quartet is also set to make a comeback in 2026 for their 25th anniversary, with an Asia tour organized by B’in Music.

It looks like F4 is here to stay—and as the group sets its sights on making up for lost time, Asian fans of Meteor Garden can expect to sing along to “Oh baby baby baby” any time soon.
