Southeast Asia is a melting pot of perspectives, especially when it comes to cinema. This 2025, SEA film festivals have dominated the industry, with the upcoming film festivals in Bangkok, the Philippines, Singapore and more. One of the upcoming festivals to watch out for is the Jakarta World Cinema (JWC), which aims to bring a selection of global and local films to Indonesia’s largest city.
JWC is an international film festival that features a diverse array of films, animated features, shorts, documentaries, and more. This 2025 edition is the festival’s fourth run, bringing filmmakers, film enthusiasts, and communities together to enjoy a unique cinematic experience of global cinema. Aside from local screenings, the festival will also conduct filmmaking workshops across Surabaya, Bandung, Depok, Jember, and Malang, in collaboration with filmmakers like Yosep Anggi Noen, Daryl Wilson, Alim Sudio, Loeloe Hendra, and Razka Robby Ertanto.
