Here’s What We Know About “Avengers: Doomsday”

Marvel has recently been releasing a series of teasers that have been building up to the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday. The teasers were first leaked when they were shown on screen during an Avatar: Fire and Ash premiere back in December, with several bootleg clips being posted online. The Russo Brothers have also been dropping hints and easter eggs on their socials to build hype for the film.

Now that the teasers are officially uploaded online, we can finally take a look at what’s in store for our favorite Marvel superheroes. Join us as we take a peek at the teasers below.

Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers aka Captain America in Doomsday. No dialog accompanies his teaser, but it reveals an important thing—he is no longer the elderly man we saw in Avengers: End Game. Cap as his younger self could imply some time travel shenanigans going on in the film, opening the door for speculation of other characters that can join the cast.

Joining Evans is Chris Hemsworth, who is returning as Thor Odinson, the God of Thunder. This time, we do get dialogue, which reveals something surprising. We see Thor praying to the all-father, Odin, for his safe return to his daughter. It’s haunting to hear even a god pray which sets the tone to the devastation and chaos about to happen during Avengers: Doomsday. This could also imply the involvement of Thor’s daughter, Love, in the film.

After all these years, the original cast of X-Men finally joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The last trailer shows Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier / Professor X reuniting with Ian Mckellen as Erik Lenhsherr / Magneto while discussing life and death. James Marsden as Scott Summers / Cyclops is also seen in the teaser, removing his ruby quartz visor and unleashing an uncontrollable optic blast. The narration implies potential deaths that could happen to some of our beloved heroes, while the inclusion of Fox’s X-Men could mean that anything is fair game when it comes to which version of the characters are joining the crew.

While the teasers don’t really paint a clear picture of the film yet, we know that the upcoming film will feature a threat that is multiversal, potentially involving time travel, and may cause some deaths along the way. The stakes are higher than ever, and we can’t wait to see what more is revealed about Avengers: Doomsday before its release this December.
