Taxi boats are some of Bangkok’s most unique modes of transportation. With its intricate network of canals or khlongs, Bangkok was at some point known as “Venice of the East.” Today, taxi boats are a popular choice to avoid land traffic and are also considered as a scenic route when it comes to exploring the country.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) recently announced that boat taxis bringing passengers from Phadung Krung Kasem canal to Bang Lamphu can ride for free this February as part of their trial period. The transportations will be operating from 9 AM to 5 PM, carrying up to six passengers per trip, and will stop at 14 piers near food stops, picturesque spots, and shops.
Stops include Ban Phan Thom, Chao Pho Taksin Shrine, Hua Lamphong, Hua Lamphong Railway Station, Lan Luang Intersection, Ministry of Energy, Nakhon Sawan, Nopphawong, Phra Sumen Fort, Prachathipatai, Ratchadamnoen Nok, Thewet, Thewarat Market, and Yotse piers.
You can grab a ride through the MUVMI app and experience a scenic boat taxi route for free this February!
