Team Avatar is all grown up! Fans got an unexpected first look of the adult versions of the Gaang when Target released official merchandise designs for the upcoming animated film, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender.
The upcoming release is a spin-off of Avatar: Last Airbender, a Nickelodeon cartoon released in 2005 following the story of Aang, a young Avatar and the last airbender who wakes from a 100-year icy slumber to find the world consumed by a war launched by the Fire Nation. The beloved series ended in 2008 and has spawned two series after it: Avatar: The Legend of Korra and the upcoming Avatar: Seven Havens. It has also had a few live-action versions, with the M. Night Shyamalan film adaptation in 2010 and a Netflix series that premiered in 2024.

The upcoming animated film, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, is set years after the original series, with the characters as adults navigating the post-war world. No further details have been revealed about the plot, but Paramount Pictures announced that instead of getting a theatrical release, the film is getting a straight to streaming treatment this October.
To celebrate the upcoming news, Target released designs of official merchandise for the film, featuring Avatar Aang, the Water Tribe siblings Katara and Sokka, Earthbending Master Toph, and Fire Lord Zuko. Joining them is a mysterious sixth character who also has arrow tattoos and a shaved head, characteristic of the Air Nomads.
