The Toy Doctor is in!
Mandai Wildlife Reserve in Singapore invites visitors to check out Southeast Asia’s first toy clinic, run by toy doctors Isaac Kong and Pamela Theng since November of last year, who have been perfecting the craft of toy repair since 1996.
After 20 years, the duo shifted their expertise to soft toy restoration and cleaning, focusing on plushies, stuffed animals, and other cuddly fabric-based toys. While soft toys are made to last for 10 to 30 years, the unprecedented can happen while at playtime, and repair experts for them are uncommon—hence, the toy doctors here make sure that your plushies stay in tip top shape.
Toy treatments offered include transfusion—which involves re-stuffing your toy with premium polyester—and organ transplantation—when specific parts like eyes or noses need to be replaced. Aside from toy treatments, the clinic also offers customization, plush rejuvenation workshops, and experiential activities that educate participants on toy care through play.
This April, the clinic is also hosting fluffy workshop for kids aged 6 and above on how to perform home repairs for their beloved plushies.
Visit the Toy Doctor at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve in Singapore and get your favorite soft toys treated.
