Sawadeeka, Seoul! The first large-scale special exhibition dedicated to Thai history and art is heading to the National Museum of Korea.
Amazing Thailand: Masterpieces of Thai Art is a collaborative art exhibit of Thailand’s Fine Arts Department and the National Museum of Korea. Consisting of 239 sculptures, paintings, and crafts contributed by 21 national institutions around Thailand, the exhibit features pieces from ancient times until the 20th Century.

The collection features the “Walking Buddha” of the Sukhothai Kingdom—one of Thailand’s earliest and most important historical settlements that UNESCO has recognized as a Heritage Site. Other items on display are the Lopburi-style sculpture, Radiant Avalokitesvara from the 13th century, and the Former Inner Gate from Wat Phra Kaeo from the 19th century.
Catch the display at the Special Exhibition Gallery 1 in the National Museum of Korea until September 6. After this run, these antiques will be at the famous Tongdosa Temple in South Gyeongsang province for two months from October to December.
