A movie based on the massively popular game Dungeons & Dragons is finally happening from Paramount Pictures, with Chris Pine already poised to lead the long-in-development project.
The Dungeons & Dragons movie has always been in the pipeline and has undergone developments previously in Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema, before finally landing on Paramount Pictures.
Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley will direct the film, apart from penning the screenplay they are already writing with Michael Gilio’s early drafts. The duo has been announced to helm it since 2019.
With Pine, who starred in Wonder Woman 1984 and Star Trek, being announced as a possible lead, Dungeons & Dragons could already be one step higher from already coming into place.
D&D is a roleplaying game set in a world driven by swords and sorcery. The game has been played by over 40 million people since it was launched 46 years ago, both on its board game and videogame format.
According to its official website, the “game is driven by imagination, sharing elements with childhood games of make-believe.”
The film adaptation is coming soon in cinemas across Southeast Asia!
