After the success of Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max, Warner Bros., has no plans to continue the so-called Snyderverse but don’t worry as DC and Warner Bros. have a lot in store for us!
Here are the upcoming DC films to be released in cinemas this 2021 and beyond.
The Suicide Squad
Directed by the Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, The Suicide Squad, a sort of a reboot and sequel to David Ayer’s Suicide Squad in 2016. James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad brings back the original characters from the first film like Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Walker, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag. The film will also introduce new additions like John Cena as Peacemaker, Idris Elba as Bloodsport, Nathan Fillion as TDK, Michael Rooker as Savant, and Sylvester Stallone as the voice of King Shark.
This exciting offering from DC will premiere both in cinemas and HBO Max on August 6, 2021.
The Batman
After encountering a lot of issues during the development, like the exit of Ben Affleck as Batman, this newest iteration of The Batman will feature Robert Pattinson as the titular hero. The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves, famously known for directing Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and its sequel, Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The film will feature a younger Batman and will showcase his 2nd year of crime-fighting.
The cast includes Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Penguin, and Paul Dano as Riddler. It is also important to note that The Batman is not an origin story and not part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
The Batman is slated for release in cinemas on March 4, 2022.
Black Adam
Another DC film with a long history of development, Black Adam was originally planned to be part of Shazam but later on, Warner Bros. decided to make it a separate movie.
Dwayne Johnson will play the role of Teth Adam aka Black Adam, an Egyptian slave who inherited the powers of the Wizard Shazam. Black Adam is an antihero and Billy Batson / Shazam’s archenemy. Black Adam is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and will also introduce the Justice Society of America featuring Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), Dr. Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell).
Black Adam will storm the theaters on July 29, 2022.

Directed by Andy Muschietti popularly known for the horror movie, IT, The Flash will introduce DCEU’s Multiverse where we will see two versions of Batman played by Michael Keaton from Tim Burton’s movies and Ben Affleck from Zack Snyder’s films. The film will also introduce more DCEU’s Supergirl played by Sasha Calle.
