The big four Filipina beauty queens are back, not on stage but as cover girls that showcase Filipina beauty for Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam with a theme of “Temptation Island.”
Miss World 2013 Megan Young, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong, and Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa were selected to grace the front cover of the 10th anniversary issue of the well-known Vietnam-based fashion magazine. It is the first time that these ladies will work together on a magazine cover.
The theme was inspired by the 1980s comedy film Temptation Island, directed by Joey Gosiengfiao. It is a story of four beauty contest winners who found themselves stuck on a deserted island. The four titleholder Filipina beauties wear yellow, white, blue, and red customized dresses that represent the Philippine flag while looking sexy and daring in their pictorial shot.
The ladies shared their stunning photos for the magazine on their respective Instagram accounts last Sunday, July 18. “Did someone say, Queens? [crown emoji] from the powerhouse of Asia, Team #Philippines [Philippine flag emoji],” wrote Verzosa.
Young and Wurtzbach both quoted on their caption an iconic line from the film.
Wurtzback also added, “Me and my girls on the cover of @bazaarvietnam. Time warp to Temptation Island…version 2021 [blue heart emoji].”
Ong was also ecstatic because she gets to work alongside her fellow Filipina beauty queens for a magazine cover. “I’m excited and proud that we won the top spot together. The joy of working with my sister beauty queens cannot be described. This is also a meaningful gift for our fans, who have always supported and stood by our side for many years,” said Ong.
Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam also featured their pageant journey stories and endeavors when their reign ended. The ladies also talked about their experiences of being cover girls together.
Aside from the Temptation Island theme front cover, they also did other photoshoot concepts for the magazine.
The creative team behind the Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam photoshoot were all Filipinos featuring fashion photographer BJ Pascual, creative director Eldzs Mejia, and stylist Adrianne Concepcion, along with others.
