Bandai Namco finally confirmed the release date of Tekken 8 during their Gamescom 2023 panel. Mark your calendars for January 26, 2024.

The game will have the usual single-player and arcade mode with 32 unique fighters to play with. The avatars are also customizable. Players can experiment with fighting styles as they navigate through the game while also relearning the fundamental controls as well.

Tekken 8 will stick to the four-button fighting style mechanics of throwing punches and kicks, but with a twist, since it adapts to your playing style. It will also have four versions: standard, deluxe, ultimate edition, and collector’s edition. The latter includes a figurine of Jin Kazama and some preorder content with a Premium Collector’s Edition which is exclusive to its online store.

This much-awaited release would be the first “straight to console” Tekken game since with its track record, they are usually launched for arcades first and later years for consoles.

From the character trailers and initial reveals, ten characters have been showcased. Rivals Jin and Kazuya are among the roster of characters alongside Xiaoyu, Jin’s mother Jun, King (non-armoured variant), Nina, Law, and Jack-8.

Producer Michael Murray emphasized that the gameplay would be the most aggressive since they hope to make Tekken 8 easier to understand by the average player while also becoming a spectator sport.

The system is said to be supported by Unreal Engine 5 which enhances the game to have smarter visual cues and a promise for more exciting battle moments. Tekken 8 will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S.
